This five day course is a real world application of electrical control circuits used to control fluid power circuits. It combines hydraulics and pneumatics, along with various types of industrial electrical control circuits. The mechanic begins by reading the schematics; he/she then wires the electrical components and pipes all fluid components; finally, the mechanic energizes the circuit. Troubleshooting the electrical and/or mechanical circuit becomes necessary if the circuit malfunctions. Approximately 65% of this course is hands-on lab work. Control aspects built and studied include: single cycle and continuous cycle reciprocation circuits, single solenoid vs. double solenoid circuits, electrical lock-in circuits, sequencing (load, position, or time) circuits and safety circuits.
